Hi, Thomas - glad you liked the story. I expect I'll shop it around the podcast reprint market once the rights revert from AE to me. The code she injects is a patch or fix for whatever error in her original sequencing caused Tor Galileo to grow stunted. The reason the Tor grows so big before she gets round to patching it? It's partially that she spent a lot of its growth time dead, partially because she's distracted by the Sage trying to hunt her down and thwart her plans, and partially because Galileo isn't the only Tor ... who knows how long she's been flitting round the world, patching other Tors, before she gets to Galileo? But of course, now that the story's out there in the world, my interpretation of the concepts and events in it can't be taken as gospel any more - you or someone else could have a different explanation and it would be just as valid as the one above!

MJ- would love to hear this in audio form on Exoplanar Frequency, or preferably on one of the Escape Artists podcasts to get it out to a wider audience. Great piece. I loved the prose, particularly within the sage's grotto. I had a question though: why wasn't the code (which I assume it was DNA/RNA) injected into the seed when it was first planted? I know that this may have been a pilot run (hence the realisation that she should have prototyped it on a smaller scale first) and so I am guessing that it was just a complication that comes with working on the cutting edge. However, it seemed like she had waited too long to start calibrating and tinkering with it. This was a minor niggle and I am sure that there is a perfectly reasonable explanation. I didn't detract from the story- I am just curious...

Hi, Steve. Interesting that you think of her as a villain - I just think of her as determined, and convinced of the correctness of her cause.

Great story. Loved the concept. It was and interesting choice to write from the villain's perspective. Makes the story feel like it is in conflict with right and wrong.

This is a beautiful piece, the style of the writing evokes an incredible tapestry in the mind's eye. In the form of a full novel, this is exactly the type of book I could normally devour in one sitting!
